During the long process of applying to American universities, everyone must put in persistent effort to continuously improve their performance, school grades, and extracurricular activities. Some people may lose themselves due to intense pressure, and some may hide in corners and cry. But at this time, if there is a teacher like a guiding light leading you, giving you direction to move forward and unwavering encouragement, then you will become more confident and reach the shore of success. Peter is such a mentor to me. From 11th grade to the end of applications, Peter always encouraged me and believed in me, helped me plan every step to take, and guided my essays over and over again while giving me the most beneficial advice. This made me see applying to college as a process of self-discovery. I learned what I truly love to do in my heart and worked harder to pursue it. When other friends were caught in college application anxiety, Peter always used his humor to ease students’ tense emotions. I always learned a lot from him, not just knowledge about studying, but also many valuable life experiences. Under Peter’s guidance, I expanded my horizons and went to the school that was most suitable for me, and I quickly fell in love with USC. I am very grateful that Peter not only became a teacher but also became a good “friend” of mine, and I hope more underclassmen can be helped by such a teacher.
